Puzzles of philosophers

I am dazzled after reading Sutra and Rushd and wordless to express my thoughts. The readings appear to be just an argument for the sake of an argument. One thing can never be denied that every effect has its cause, even a very minor thing in this world like moving glass from one place to another has a cause at the back of it, and movement of glass is an effect of an action or cause done by the mover. I want to incorporate the words of Sutra here, the example of the presence of a smoke on the mountain is due to some cause and that cause is fire. The relationship between cause and effect is never ending. Besides, as fire on the mountain can create smoke on the one hand but on the other hand it can burn plantation and kill animals reflect that one cause can have plurality of effects. There is no need of arguing on this issue. I think the same applies to the creation of the world that has an agent that is God. Now the debatable question is the characteristics of the agent, it depends on the individual personal orientation. In my opinion it is again useless to argue the capabilities of God, it depends on individual’s belief.

Rushd says that God has power, will and wisdom to create this world as Aristotle has said: “Everything that is in this world is only set together through the power which is in it from God; if this power did not exist in the things, they could not last the twinkling of an eye.” I think too that human intellect is too feeble to understand the divine laws. Not to forget that every human being is also bestowed with will, power and wisdom and uses it for his betterment all the time. But human intellect is limited there so many meta physical elements in the world about which man has no answer despite of all technological advancement.

The whole of a debate among philosophers whether God is the agent of this world or not, or he has will, power and wisdom to create and sustain this world add more obscurities in an obscure world. Rushd is also a typical rhetoricians who uses all the devices yet unable to draw solid conclusion. There are many references and techniques of comparison and contrast used by Rushd to bring validity in his argument and to arrive at truth. The cycle of proposition, reason and example given by Sutra can be seen in to practice in the work of Rushd. The reading of Rushd and Sutra at the same time is really interesting.
