I ended my blog with this question: To me, since reading and writing go hand-in-hand, shouldn’t they be allies in the digital takeover?
“The Figure of Writing and the Future of English Studies” made me wonder about the content of most of the discussion in my past RTW courses. Discussion centers mainly on writing, (which is logical considering that the title of this particular concentration is “Rhetoric and Teaching Writing”), but what about reading? I distinctly remember both reading and writing as being hand-in-hand when it came to my training in English. Writing taught me how to write, but so did reading.
Within the discussion of technology, while this course thinks about ways to make writing more modern, digital, relevant and interesting, maybe we should also consider what reading will look like alongside this evolution.
